Tweny-Four Week Belly Pic

This post should have been posted last week.. but we have just had so much going on, then ended the week last week with quite a scare. On Thursday of last week about 6 am I woke up with some pain in my back and my stomach kept tighting really tight and then would stop, after this happened a few times in a row I had Isaac start timing them, becuase I assumed I was having contractions. They were about every 5-10 minutes apart for about an hour and then seemed toslow down and not be so regular. I had a dentist appt that morning and didnt have to be to work right away so I took my time getting ready and went to the dentist afterwards stopped for breakfast and headed to work. I started noticing that they were getting closer together again. Once I got to work and started tracking them they were about 3-4 minutes apart. I made a call to my Doctor after about an hour of this and they requested that I go to the hospital for monitering.

Once we got there and settled into our room, they hooked me up to the moniters and started tracking the contractions that were deffinitley very real and very regular. They wanted to try and let them go away on their own, but that wasn't happening, and about the time they decided they were going to hook me up to some fluids to see if that would help them go away, I began having very strong contractions that were only seconds apart. They decided that they were going to need to give me a shot of Terbutaline which took the contractions away immediately but made me very shaky and my heart race very fast. After I finished my bag of fluids and got the negative test results back to see if I showed signs of preterm labor. They let me go home with strict instructions to drink alot of water and just take it easy.

I keep reminding our little guy that we are very excited to meet him and we can't wait to see him, hug and kiss him. But we just aren't ready to do that yet. He still has a lot of growing left to do.

So for now you just stay in that very safe place little man, and we will see you in November.

Love <3,
Mommy

Twenty-Four Weeks
We are still in the papaya stage in size.
If he isn't already he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Twenty-Three Week Belly Pic

Twenty-Three Weeks
Baby still in the papaya category.
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's much bigger now you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.

I think that we may have finally got the majority of the registry done. There are a few odd and end things that I can think of to put on there, but man was that a chore. A few things have stumped me along the way. I can't seem to decide on a bassinet or a small sleeper/travel crib. And this whole picking out a carseat and stroller is really stressing me out.

He's been moving so much more lately and has start to put on a little show from time to time moving around. It is so strange to see him roll across my belly, I am sure there is much more of that sort of movement to come as he gets bigger.

The baby is the size of (length of) a papaya.
He will remain in this size catagory until 25 weeks.
Baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Sorry it has taken so long to get this picture up here, I have just been so busy from getting the room ready to wrapping up the baby registry. I will try to stay more on top of it, but I am sure that as it gets closer to the end it will get harder and harder.

Twenty-One Week Belly Pic

Twenty-One Weeks
The baby is the size of a Banana.
(I believe they measure this in length, not sure how you go from cantaloupe to banana)
Baby now weighs almost a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long. You may soon feel like he's practicing martial arts as his initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.

Appt went well this week, the heartrate was very good. And I am very excited about my next appt were I am doing my glucose test...YES!!  (Totally Kidding!) I am not looking forward to that at all. But this little boy is just a moving around. It has been very exciting over the last few weeks as his movements have become alot stronger and I have starting to actually see his movements just by looking at my belly sometimes. He usually does not want to move for anyone other than his Mommy or Daddy, anytime he starts moving and I mention to someone to feel, he stops.

Until next time :)

Twenty Weeks
The baby is the size of a cantaloupe.
He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
