I told you I would be back. It took a few weeks longer than I would have liked, but I am here and I have big news. I have recently learned that all though you make plans, and you might think it is a very good plan, God always has another plan in mind. After all, his plans seem to always work out much better than you could ever imagine anyway. So on to the Big News......
We are gonna have a baby!
Yes this is very true, I am not playing an April Fools. I am pregnant, very big surprise, totally unexpected, and we are extremely excited.
And so was my Mom!
And so was Isaacs Mom!
I realized after all the excitement had passed that I really didn't get a good picture of either of our Dads. But they are both very excited too.
It is quite a funny story how we discovered that we were in fact pregnant. I made a trip to a local walk-in clinic February 26th because I was having some neck pain, very long story short, they were going to do x-rays because of the reason I was in to see them, and of course just for precaution they would need for me to do a pregnancy test. So after the nurse and I swapped a laugh and a joke or two about how crazy it would be if it was positive, and I joked about her calling my husband if it was.... she came and got me for the x-rays shortly after I took the test. All was well, I got my prescription from the Doctor and left the office. Approximately three hours later the doctor called with deep concern in his tone. He started by saying...
Doctor - "You are aware that when you were in to see us today, you took a pregnancy test"
Me - "Yes, and it was negative"
Doctor - (more concerned tone) "Well! It was....at first"
Me - "What does that mean"
Doctor - " When the nurse went back to throw the test out, it appeared positive"
Me - "Is this a joke"
Doctor - "I had the nurse do a second test, it was also positive, so I am calling to say congratulations! Your Pregnant"
Me - (shocked and almost speechless) I just Thanked him for calling because I wasn't sure exactly what I should say, and tried to figure out if I was dreaming, if the conversation that just took place actually just happened.
That pretty much sums it up, other than I really don't think I believed him so I went and bought a test right then and took it.. and well.. It was also, positive. :) I guess he wasn't lying after all.
It was somewhat hard to believe at first, even after three test, only one had I saw with my own two eyes, but assuming the others were really positive. The thought crossed my mind several times to go to Walgreens and buy every test they had and take them. Because at that moment, I didn't feel pregnant..... other than the constant hunger I had been experiencing over the last few weeks, the little belly roll that started to show back up, although I was convinced that was from all the girl scout cookies I had been devouring. I felt great, slightly tired, but really good. Lucky for me I was able to pretty much track exactly about how far along I was. Which was about three weeks, to then find out that morning sickness doesn't normally start until about six :(
And boy let me tell you when about the fifth week or so came, so did the indescribable feeling of I think I might die, I feel so sick, I think I am going to be sick, I want to just lay here and I don't want to talk, I don't want to move, I don't want to smell or think about food, And rather than feel like I am going to CAN I PLEASE JUST THROW UP!!! And for all the ladies that have been there, God Bless You! For all the Men who will never, ever know what a woman goes through during this time. It is probably best to just say, Nothing.
I am hoping that the morning sickness is almost over, maybe not. But I can hope right? I have tried everything that everyone has suggested to do for that, but nothing really works. I think the best advice I could give someone is just stay in tune with your body, and for me I just can't let my stomach get empty.
I had my first doctors appt March 18th and it was not really what I expected for a first appt. Filled out a ton of paperwork, gave blood, got a shot, watched a movie, received a whole lot of goodies from the office. Oh, almost forgot, took a fourth test, Yeah, it was positive. Had a very deep discussion with my nurse regarding the due date she gave me, which was October 19th. But by my calculations, I believe that I am due November 10th, even after I made it very clear to her that unless this baby is a miraculous conception, I was pretty sure that it wouldn't be an October baby unless God decided it should come early. They will be able to get a more solid date when I have my first ultrasound.
I am so excited to have you guys follow along this wonderful journey with us. We are so excited and can't wait to share all the details along the way. I am hoping to post weekly belly pictures, updates on doctor visits, and how this little miracle of mine is doing.
Eight Weeks (by my calculations)
The baby is the size of a raspberry,
It has arms and legs and its toes and fingers are only slighty webbed. Breathing tubes extend from its throat to the branches of the developing lungs, and its "tail" is just about gone. Nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.
They say it is moving like crazy in there, but I probably won't feel it for a while.
My next appt will be April 16th. I am hoping to talk them into giving me an ultrasound at that appt to clear up this matter of the due date, because they are not planning on doing one until 20 weeks. I am not so sure I can wait that long. I hope to post before then.
Much Love,
The Newly Excited Expecting Parents :)
