Better "late" than never

And by late I mean almost midnight late. I have been having crazy, crazy conversations with myself here lately. They usually go a little something like this.

Positive Self:  Just take a picture of him every day and post at least once a week.

Reality Self: That sounds all well and good but easier said than done.

Positive Self: Well just try..even if its a picture of him sleeping for crying out loud.

Reality Self: I know, I know..I really should make a better effort. It is just so hard, and then believe or not when I remember to run and grab the camera the dog gone battery is dead...Uhhh!!

I think these conversations really take place somewhere deep in the Mommy mind. I know that I should make a better effort to get pictures on here weekly. I am not making a promise, but I will definitely try harder to take more pictures and post them. I just hope that I can find a better time of day to post.

So for now here are a few I took the other day while spending some time outside.

I just love those big blue eyes.

He hasn't mastered making his hands do everything he would like them to do, but he has gotten pretty good at getting them into his mouth.

I don't get much time on the other side of the camera. And although this isn't the best picture of the two of us I had to post it because it cracks me up. I think Eli is thinking..Hey! There is that hand thing again, I wonder if I can get it in my mouth.

Almost there, almost got it...hey Mommy..you think maybe you can you can stop taking pictures for a minute, this is serious business.

Hopefully I will be back soon and very soon with more pictures.

Good Night!

Two Months Old

I really never knew that time: weeks, days, hours could go by so very fast. I certainly hope that its a normal motherly function to tear up at the simple thought of your baby growing up. Next thing you know he will be talking and walking and I don't even want to think about going to school, luckily there are four or five years until that takes place. I mentioned in the last post that Eli changes every day. Sometimes I find myself amazed that from one day to the next he just looks a little more grown up.

Eli you are 2 months old!
You are growing so much. You are such a happy baby and you are always smiling and talking. You aren't giving me such a fit when its time to go to bed now. After your bath you eat and then we read a few books, sometimes it seems like you are reading with me because you are so talkative. I hold you and rock you and usually you will go right to sleep but sometimes Mommy has to pat your back. You sleep until four sometimes five o'clock and then go right back to sleep for another three to four hours. I really appreciate long stretches of sleep.

You are still nursing every three hours, but some days every four. Some things that you love are bath time, walks, you love to go outside and pretty much just like to stay busy.
You are holding your head up very very good now and you stand (with help) all the time.
Recently you have been very aware of different noises that you here and sometimes when you hear a noise that startles you, you will cry such a sad little cry. Mommys heart just breaks when you cry like that.
But most other noises you think are very fun and you are coming so close to laughing.
Some new things are, you found your hands, you haven't quite figured out how to work them yet but you know that they are there. You get very frustrated when you can't figure it out. You seem to always manage to get them in your mouth though. But Mommy and Daddy are being careful with that because we don't want you sucking your thumb.
You also have been sticking out your bottom lip. Most of the time when you are upset you will do that but sometimes you do it for no reason and when I say "Oh, don't be sad..you'll make Mommy sad" You smile so Big. You are deffinitley a little ham for sure.
I suppose all the same reasons that I would get one, every now and again you get a chill and shiver from your toes up it and you make the cutest little shiver noise. Oh, I could just eat you up.
And the funniest thing recently that you have been doing is you have discovered your tongue. And you are always sticking it out. It is so cute. I'm sure it won't be long that you start making rasberries and spit bubbles. So Fun!!

You had your 2 month check up today and Dr. Bowling said you are doing so good. You weigh 13.2 pounds which puts you in the 83% and you are 24 inches long and in the 86%. You also got your first shot today. I really didn't know what to expect but I guess I thought that there would have been a more dramatic reaction. But you were such a tough guy and only cried a little. I suppose those more dramatic reactions will come later down the road when you start relating a trip to the doctor with a shot. He did say that you might be ready for some cereal in your diet. So we'll see.You don't go back for two months.
Isaac and I are more than pleased with Dr. Bowling. He is so nice and is really good at what he does. But slightly off topic...If you don't already know this about my Husband let me just fill you in. He never meets a stranger. And that seems to be the case with Eli's doctor. I'm not complaining, I think that it's a very good thing. He always remembers us and remembers the baby and little things about us, I am sure that is because he has found a common ground with Isaac. So it makes it a more personable experience and a great foundation for the years to come. But today was so funny, as soon as he came in the room today its as if he picked right up where they left off at  the last visit, something about some really fancy gun they were talking about and apparently it had been on his mind and he wanted to talk to him more about it. Maybe its a guy thing!

A New Year full of New Adventures!

Oh my..I can't get over how fast this past year went by. I am sure now that we have a little one in our life they are going to start going by even quicker. This is what I hear anyway. And so far I am believing it because every morning I wake up, I've barely eaten breakfast and it's already time to make dinner. But I am enjoying every single minute of it. He changes so much every day. And he is just growing like a weed. If there was someway I could slow it down I would because these days probably go by the quickest, and I want to cherish every moment.
Hangin with Dad on New Years Day

First walk around the neighborhood.
There was so much to take in, he was very serious about it can't you tell. He slept like a champ after that walk. I guess all that looking around can make you tired.

Smiles like these melt my heart.

I was playing around with the settings on my camera one night when I captured this great shot. Love It!!

This picture is soooo funny, and it is one of those moments that you just had to be there. The baby was being really fussy one evening. Gunner kept huffing and puffing about it and when we looked over at him this is how he was laying. He looks frustrated. I think there are times he just isn't sure about this little thing we brought home one day and never returned. I am pretty sure if he could talk he would ask when is it going home. One of these days though, I know they will be inseparable, but for now he is feeling a bit like this picture.

We have a very exciting year ahead of us. Full of first laughs, first words, first steps and a first birthday. This little fella is going to do a lot of growing over this coming year and I hope to capture as much as I can and share it with you.

Wishing all of you the very best year!
