Sixteen Weeks

The baby is the size of an avocado.

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double its weight and add inches to its length. Right now, about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. Its legs are much more developed, and the head is more erect than it has been, eyes have moved closer to the front of its head. Ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of the scalp has begun. It has even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, the heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in the baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

As expected not much news about our appointment, blood work and of coarse we did get to listen to the heart beat. She had a heck of timegetting the little bugger to stay still to bea able to count the beats per minute. She did finally get it 156 BPM. But we deffinitley got a little mover on our hands. We go back in three weeks on June 16th to find out the sex of the baby. I will certainly keep you updated.

Birthday Surprise

Oh.. they come every year, don't they... they sure do, and there is no stopping them. Its hard to feel down about your birthday and turning a year older when your Husband makes it so fun! I will guide you through this adventure with pictures.

This is the make-shift blindfold that I had to wear..because I was not allowed to see where we were going. Afterall it was a surprise. I am usually very good with directions, you would think that even blindfolded you could determine what road you were on by the turns.. Not on this adventure, my Husband thought ahead. I think we were riding through a jungle of some sort at one point.. I am not sure, but there would have been no way to figure this one out.

This is where we arrived, 11 Maple St. Resturant.

Pleasantly surprised to see my Parents there waiting for us. Unfortunatley Isaacs Parents had prior arrangements made and could not make it.

Such a cute place with the white picket fence, a beautiful display of flowers lined the steps up to the front door of this 105 year old home, where this little resturant has been for 25 years. The tables were all unique with different linens and antique chairs. It had a very old cottage feel about it.

When we were seated they gave me a personalized menu. Such a nice touch, I thought. (Thanks Hunny!)

My Mom and I ordered the Wagyu Beef Tenderloin.

Isaac ordered the Elk.

My Dad ordered the Alaskan Halibut and Prawns.

After a few people swapped dishes, everyone was happy and fun was had by all.

After dinner a little trip to the oh so yummy Kilwins Chocolate and Ice Cream shop.

Fifteen Week Belly Pic

Fifteen Weeks

The baby is the size of a naval orange.

Its busy moving amniotic fluid through its nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. The babys legs are growing longer than its arms now, and can move all of its joints and limbs. The eyelids are still fused shut, but can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for the baby to taste at this point, but it is forming taste buds.

My next appt is the 26th, not sure that I will really have much info to share afterwards. I think that this is just blood work and testing. We will get to hear the heartbeat again, I do wish I could share that, but I'm not sure I could pull that off. Then the count down will begin to find out what the sex of the baby is.

Fourteen Week Belly Pic

Sorry this post is so late, We have started the official move the guest room to make it a baby room and all the fun that comes with that. What better timing after getting our new guest/office/man room done, we had some guests here from out of state. So needless to say we were pretty busy.

Fourteen Weeks

The baby is the size of a lemon.

This week's big developments: Baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and suck it's thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, facial muscles are getting a workout as its tiny features form one expression after another. The kidneys are producing urine, which releases into the amniotic fluid around it — a process that will keep up until birth. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. The Babys body is growing faster than its head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, the arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of the body. (The legs still have some lengthening to do.) It's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over the body.

Everything has been going well, no more morning sickness (Thank Goodness). I have been dealing with headaches and sinus congestion which is equally not as fun but thankfully there is something that I can take for relief. Just have to make sure that I eat something before hand or it will come right back up. I am beginning to wonder if the restless nights of sleep will end, but I am thinking that this is somehow just the beginning. Still feeling only the slight hints of movements, mostly only when I am very still or after I eat. We are loving Mexican food lately, I could probably eat chips and salsa every day. I am sure that will change, or I will get sick of it one.

Thirteen Weeks

The baby is the size of a peach.

Fingerprints have formed on the baby's tiny fingertips, its veins and organs are clearly visible through its still-thin skin, and its body is starting to catch up with its head, which makes up just a third of the body size now.

Last time I said that I thought that the morning sickness was gone,well maybe I jinxed myself. Because as soon as I thought it was gone...it wasn't. But since last Monday nothing.. fingers crossed. I hope its gone.

Twelve Weeks

The baby is the size of a plum.

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, its toes will curl, eye muscles will clench. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. Its intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into its abdominal cavity about now, and the kidneys will begin excreting urine into the bladder. Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously.The babys face looks unquestionably human: The eyes have moved from the sides to the front of its head, and ears are right where they should be.
